Ogun female robber, another arrested

A suspected female robber Chioma Okafor has been arrested, alongside a teenager Joshua Nweke, in Adesan area, Mowe, Ogun State.

Chioma and Joshua had attempted to rob a foodstuff seller, Johnson Nwokoro, on November 25, at 9.30pm.

While they were pretending to be genuine buyers, the suspects suddenly drew out toy guns on Nwokoro.

They ordered the trader to hand over to them the proceeds of his sales for the day.

But, before the robbers could escape from the scene, some police operatives and officials of the state-funded security corps swooped on them.

Abímbola Oyeyemi, a superintendent of police and the spokesperson for the command, said the police busted the suspects following a distress call on the robbery operation.

“Upon the distress call, the DPO Mowe division, SP Folake Afeniforo, quickly mobilized the division’s patrol team and the ‘So Safe’ Corps men to the scene, where the two suspects were arrested.

“On searching them, it was discovered that they came to rob the shop with toy guns which looked perfectly like original pistols.

“On interrogation, the 19 years old Nweke Joshua, informed the police that it was Chioma Okafor who came with the idea of carrying out the robbery operation in order for them to have some money.

“He stated further that it was Chioma who bought the two toy guns and gave him one to use for the operation.”

The police said the State Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the incident.
