Congratulatory messages have begun to pour in for Alade, who is known for her usually avante-garde costumes in music videos and at performances.

Alade, who has announced her new single, ‘My Man’, featuring Kranium, is due for release on April 8, featured prominently in Kidjo’s work.

Kidjo won in the Best Global Music category, beating Nigeria’s Afrobeat superstars like Wizkid, and Femi Kuti. The up-and-coming Made Kuti was also nominated for the Grammy.

The music star gave a thumbnail acceptance speech, acknowledging the collaborative efforts of Alade, who sang the song, “Dignity”, in the award-winning album.

Others so recognised by Kidjo for their roles in the album are Burna Boy and Mr. Easi among others.

The award was Kidjo’s sixth Grammy, as she stated on stage that her belief that”young Africans will take the world by storm” was coming to reality.
