Tinubu, Peter Obi mourn late Bola AjibolaÂ

President-elect Bola Tinubu has said that the deceased renowned jurist, Bola Ajibola, would be remembered for his patriotism and love for Nigeria.”

In a tribute released on Sunday, Tinubu lauded Ajibola’s contribution to “Nigeria’s political evolution, nation-building, legal profession and international jurisprudence.”

He also described Ajibola as “an eminent statesman and legal icon” who made his mark both nationally and internationally.

On his part, former presidential candidate, Peter Obi states that Ajibola “served Nigeria and the world diligently and honourably”, calling his death a ” “colossal loss.”

Ajibola, who died on Sunday, aged 89 years, was former minister of justice and attorney-general between 1985 and 1991. He also served as a judge of the International Court of Justice, Hague, and subsequently as Nigeria’s permanent ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Ajibola founded Crescent University, an Islamic faith-based institution.Â
