Tinubu depletes presidential fleet, one up for sale
President Bola Tinubu-led administration has depleted the presidential air fleet, with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) the Falcon 900B aircraft for sale.
NAF, in an advertisement, said that it had received the government’s approval for the sale while calling on willing buyers to bid.
It said, “In compliance with provisions of the public procurement Act 2007, the NAF hereby invites all interested parties to submit bids for purchase of the aircraft. The bids can be submitted by email or physically.
“If submitted by email, the bids are to be password protected and sent to dproc@airforce.mil.ng while the password is to be sent separately to d proc2@ airforce.miI.ng
“For physical submission, the quotations are to be enclosed in an envelope and sealed while the envelope is to bear the name and address of the interested company/entity as well as the description and reference to the request.
NAF did not state the reason for the sale bid. There has been persistent call on the government to sell off some of the presidential jets gulping millions of tax payers’ money.
After initially reneging on his campaign promise, former president, Muhammadu Buhari, in 2016, eventually approved the sale of two presidential aircrafts. At the time, the government offered for sale its Falcon 7x and Hawker 4000.
It cannot be ascertained whether the latest action is part of government’s plan to cut expenses amid revenue squeeze.
