The Katsina Police Command has reinforced its earlier ban on the use of motorcycles in the state. Motorcycles are popularly referred to as Okada in Nigeria, as their speed are likened to that of a rested airline that originally bore the name.

The state government and the police had pronounced the ban as a way of curbing the activities of terrorists.

Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the police command, affirmed the ban in his statement issued on Monday.

“The attention of the general public that the ban on the movement of motorcycles from 2200hrs to 0600hrs in Katsina city is still in force. While in the Frontline LGAs from 1800hrs to 0600hrs,” Isah stated.

The state and others in the northern region of Nigeria has faced incessant terrorist attacks.

The federal government recently hinted of a nationwide ban on the use of motorcycles.

Abubakar Malami, the minister of justice, said terrorists are wont to using motorcycles for their nefarious activities.
