Convicted murderer tries escape from courtroom after hearing death sentence

Uduak Akpan, a convicted murder, made an escape attempt after a judge sentenced him to death for killing Inibong Umoren.

Akpan gruesomely murdered Umoren in his residence, after tricking her with a fake job offer.

Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court Thursday convicted Akpan on rape and murder charges.

The judge however acquitted Akpan’s father and sister, both defendants too.

In April 2021, Akpan raped and murdered Umoren. He hurriedly dug a grave within his compound and buried her remains.
