Seven policemen killed in Enugu within three days
Four police officers were killed at a checkpoint in Enugu State two days after three others were gruesomely murdered.
The police officers were on a stop-and-search around the Enugu metropolis when their assailants opened fire on them.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday in Obeagu community, along Amaechi-Ekeotu-Agbani Town Road.
Residents and business operators consequently deserted the road where the incident happened for many hours.
TheCornet reported that police had previously declared a manhunt for those who killed the initial three officers.
Again, the police said they were on the trail of the assailants.
“Police operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants,” said Daniel Ndukwe, an assistant superintendent and spokesperson for the police command.
