Schoolchildren in the Denro neighbourhood of Ogun state risk drowning in floodwater due to a collapsed located in the area.

A report claimed authorities neglected the bridge in its state of disrepair before the eventual collapse.

Many dwellers are reportedly stuck in their homes, as there is no alternative route to access the community situated about 50 kilometers to Abeokuta, the seat of power.

Some residents who dare to take a makeshift bridge that serves as a temporary pathway expressed safety fears.

Citizens living in the fringes of Ogun state have continued to lament government neglect.

The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, won a second term in a disputed governorship poll, held on March 18.
