Abure floors Apapa-led faction in Labour Party case

The Court of Appeal has faulted the sacking of Julius Abure by some ward executives of the Labour Party.

The appellate court also vacated a previous ruling by the federal high court restraining Abure and three other national executive members from functioning as officers of the party.

Some aggrieved members, namely Martins Esikpali, Lucky Shaibu, Isah Zekeri, Omogbai Frank, Abokhaiu Aliu, Ayohkaire Lateef, Job Elomah and Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, who belong to the the Lamidi Apapa-led faction had initiated the original suit.

Following their favourable judgment, Abure filed an appeal against it.

On Wednesday, three justices sitting on the case agreed that the previous ruling was wrong. The lead judge, Hamma Barka, also stated that the plaintiffs would pay  N1million cost.

The ruling automatically validates Abure’s position as the leader of the party.
