Wanted suspect arrested after two years on the run

A suspected criminal, Muhammad Abdullahi, 25, who escaped justice for two years, finally landed in the hands of the law enforcement last Saturday.

Bauchi police command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, said that they arrested Muhammad during a raid of a criminal den located in a suburb of Bauchi, the state capital.

Wakil added the police had been looking for Muhammad known for his thuggery, and an assault on a man. He accused Wakil of stabbing his victim and severing his hand.

Wakil said, “Sometime in 2021, the suspect criminally conspired with Sani Danfada, male, Manu Maidawa and two others, now at large, all of the same address, while armed with machetes and other deadly weapons attacked and stabbed one Mubarak Abdullahi, male (25) of Unguwan Sarakuna area on his head and cut off his left hand from the Articulatio radiocarpalis.”

He added that the police are on the trail of Muhammad’s accomplices.

Similar arrest by the police, Wakil said, was that of a group of thugs, known as Sara-Suka group. The suspected criminals were arrested on July 23, 2023 at about 7.30pm while raiding a criminal hideout situated at Nasarawan Madina Quarters Bauchi.

He said preliminary investigation showed that “the suspects are into armed robbery and act of thuggery.”

The police said they recovered one long knife and some dry leaves, suspected to be cannabis sativa, popularly known as Indian hemp.
