Police rescue victim, shoot kidnappers dead in forest

Ogun State police command has said that it successfully reached a victim, Tunde Osifowokan from his captors, after laying a siege to them in a think forest.

Osifowokan was kidnapped on his farm on March 18, 2024.

Following his abduction, the police said that its “Anti Kidnapping Team in cooperation with the local hunters, forest guards as well as vigilante and Amotekun” stormed the forest, located along Benin-Sagamu Expressway.

The report also stated that the kidnappers opened fire on the rescuers, in their bid to escape.oL

“Policemen strategically laying in wait, retaliated to the gunfire, the kidnappers were over powered by the detectives superior gun power and five of the kidnappers were fatally injured, while three others escaped with life threatening bullet injuries farther into the forest,” the command said.

The command added that “over ₦1million, ard drugs, empty shells of AK47 riffle, criminal charm and sticks,” were recovered from the kidnappers’ den.

It added that “the lifeless bodies of the kidnappers were evacuated to the morgue and deposited at State Hospital for autopsy.”
