Police arrest Kuje Prison escapee in Adamawa

The Adamawa Police Command says it has arrested one of the escaping inmates of the Kuje Custodial Center.

The escapee is identified as Abubakar Muhammed, aged 27 years.

The police said Muhammed was arrested in Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa state “while trying to trace his way to Bama local government area, Borno state.”

Muhammed is said to have been in the prison facility since 2017 .

Commissioner of Police for the state, S.K Akande briefed journalists about the arrest.

The suspect was handed over to the Controller of Correctional Service, in Adamawa, CCS Ahmed Abdul Usman.

Members of the Islamic State for West Africa (ISWAP), a breakaway faction of boko haram, had stormed the prison facility on July 5. The jihadists caused extensive damage to the facility and set its members and other several other inmates free.
