Police ‘arrest’ one person over Mohbad’s death

The police have arrested one person in connection to the death of Nigerian singer, Mohbad. According to an actor Iyabo Ojo, the police apprehended the nurse who injected the singer before his death. Ojo intensified her call for justice as she continues to hold Instagram live shows where she gives updates on the police investigation.

“They (police) are going to do the autopsy… they have made some arrests,” she said.

“The nurse has been arrested, that I know. That is the only information I can give you right now… they have arrested some people. They are asking some people to turn themselves in.”

The state police commissioner Idowu Owohunwa said, during a press briefing on Wednesday, that the force would thoroughly examine every piece of information, person, or place linked to Mohbad’s death.

Owohunwa also said the police would seek the help of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol), if persons of interest in the case are not in Nigeria.

The late singer’s fans are grieving over his untimely passing and equally calling for a probe. Davido, the Afrobeats singer, had announced he would return from his UK travel to join partake in a candlelight procession to held in Mohbad’s honour.

Mohbad was 27 years at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife and son.

The singer’s death had sparked anger as videos of him being harassed by socialite Sam Larry continue to do rounds on the internet.

Fans have connected Mohbad’s ordeal to his bitter separation from his former record label, Marlian records, owned by street-hop singer, Naira Marley. Both Sam Larry and Naira Marley have denied having a hand in the singer’s death.
