PDP’s actions shameful, undemocratic –Abaribe

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has described the current developments in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “shameful” and “undemocratic”.

Abaribe stated this in his letter of resignation from the party and as the Minority Leader of Senate.

The senator had complained about the party’s handling of its governorship primaries, forcing him to quit the race and ultimately the party.

“I write to inform you of my decision to resign as a member of (the) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”, wrote Abaribe to the party chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

“This development is consequent upon the shameful display of illegality, impunity and undemocratic decision of the party and after due consultations with my constituents.”

In a separate letter he addressed to the president of Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Abaribe said his exit from the PDP informed his decision to relinquish his position in the parliament.

“I wish to thank you and my dear colleagues in the Leadership of the Senate for the warm camaraderie we enjoyed while I was Minority Leader,” he said.
