PDP chieftain shot multiple times, dies

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Silvester Ntefre, has been shot dead in Akwa Ibom state.

Unknown gunmen murdered the politician in Oruk Anam local government area on May 15.

Ntefre’s assailants reportedly stormed his residence in a black SUV.

They also dragged him into a nearby bush, where they shot him several times.

The gunmen left their vehicle behind.�Police spokesman Odiko Macdon, they are working on the report.�

“As I speak, mechanisms are already in place to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book.

“The culprits were chased by the youth of the community and the police but they narrowly escaped,” he added.

“I can assure you that with the strategy put in place by the commissioner of police, the perpetrators will soon be brought to book.”

He, however, urged the public to “pray and allow the police to do their job.”
