Ogun probes, warns against killer alcoholic drink in circulation

The Ogun state government has said it would probe the mysterious death of eight persons and several others who took ill after consuming unspecified alcoholic drink.

The news of strange deaths from consumption of the killer drink broke a few days ago. Some friends had died after taking the alcoholic substance a friend had offered to them.

Dr. Tomi Coker, the special adviser to state Governor Dapo Abiodun, said on Sunday that residents should be wary of consuming locally brewed alcoholic drinks and other products not licensed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for consumption.

Coker stated the incident cases happened on July 18th and 20th, 2023 in two local government areas, viz Ijebu North East and Odogbolu.

Coker urged the residents to report to government health workers any case of illness or death from consumption of the killer drink or similar products including herbal concoctions.
