NLC deputy president beats Senate Leader to pick Kebbi guber ticket

Nasir Idris, the deputy president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has emerged the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Kebbi state.

Nasir Idris defeated the Majority Leader of the Senate, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, who did not get a single vote. Also, in the race was retired deputy comptroller-general of Nigerian Customs, Abubakar Mallam, who garnered thirty-five votes.

The winner, Idris, doubles as the president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT). He scored one thousand and fifty five (1055) votes to defeat two other contestants at the party’s primary election in Birnin Kebbi.

Hon. Idris Yahuza Ya’akub, the chairman of the APC Kebbi governorship primaries, announced the result early on Friday.
