Okowa is presidential, has no time for drama  – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP flag bearer for the 2023 poll, has said he picked Governor Ifeanyin Okowa as his running mate because he is “presidential”.

Atiku announced his choice of Okowa, thereby ending the speculation about his co-contestant and Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike emerging the vice presidential candidate of the opposition party.

Atiku said that while consulting with party organs, he “made clear that my running mate would have the potential to succeed me at a moment’s notice, that is, a President-in-waiting.”

“In other words, the person must have the qualities to be President,” said Atiku who has serially contested the office of Nigeria’s president.

Atiku adds that a candidate might sometimes” generates a buzz and adds huge excitement to the campaign”, he however believes Nigeria’s current challenges “leave us little room for drama.”

“We have to win the elections and get to work immediately.”
