Miyetti Allah leader charged with being threat to national security Â

The Nigerian Government, on Friday, arraigned Bello Bodejo, president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, for taking actions inimical to national security.

Bodejo was recently arrested after he launched a vigilante group.

Mohammed Abubakar,  federal director of public prosecution, had filed an amended three-count charge against Bodejo. The new charges replaced the lone charge the prosecutor had earlier brought against the defendant.

Bodejo’s lawyer protested against his client taking a plea on the amended charges. According to him, the lone charge previously pressed against him still subsisted. But, Justice Ekwo, of the Federal High Court, overruled the defendant’s lawyer. According to Ekwo, event had overtaken the subject of his protestation but advised the counsel to address the issue in his final written address.

Finally, Bodejo made a “not guilty” plea to charges. The case was adjourned till March 27th and 28th for trial to commence.
