LP chieftain says nationwide doom, violence looming

A senior member of the Labour Party (LP), Aisha Yesufu, has predicted violence comparable only to the EndSARS riot that broke out in 2020.

The self-professed activist and politician featured prominently in the riot, in response to the widespread brutality and abuse of citizens, particularly by then Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Her iconic photograph taken on a protest grounds showing her raised fist became one of the memorable images that emerged from the anti-police protest.

Yesufu gave a warning about another likely protest on her official X account (formerly Twitter).

She wrote: “Nobody saw the #EndSARS protest coming. Nobody will see the next uprising coming.”

“Sadly, it might end up being violent. There is a simmering anger fueled by the impunity and brazenness of the corrupt politicians and rulers who have rigged their way into power. Nobody will be spared.”

She is an avid supporter of LP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.
