Lagos house of assembly approves 15 other commissioner-nominees

Following the truce brokered by the All Progressives Congress’ Governors Advisory Council between Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu and the Lagos state house of assembly, the latter on Thursday approved 15 other commissioner-nominees out of a list of 18 names forwarded to it.

The state’s legislature had initially rejected the nominees while approving others. With the latest development, the nominees approved by the state assembly comes to 37. The successful candidates include Professor Akin Abayomi and Gbenga Omotosho, both of whom had served as health, and information and strategy commissioners during Governor Sanwo-Olu’s first tenure.

However, the assembly, again, disapproved two others, namely Sam Egube and Olalere Odusote. Egube held the Economic Planning and Budget portfolio, while Odusote was the commissioner for Energy during the governor’s first tenure. The assembly equally stepped down approval for Tolani Akibu, a fresh nominee included in the 18-man list it deliberated upon on Thursday.
