Lagos govt. yet to complete secondary school construction 8 years after

The Lagos state government is yet to complete the construction of Itire Community Secondary School, which it began eight years ago. The school has been split into separate junior and secondary schools

PUNCH, in its report, said the government had abandoned the school construction. An old student, Olufemi Opadeji, was quoted as saying that government records showed that the school project had been completed and commissioned.

But, Folashade Adefisayo, the state’s commissioner for education, denied the claim. She reportedly said the ministry of education was working on completing the project.

Lagos, with the highest budget of ₦1.758 trillion among states of the federation in 2022, says it allocated 10 per cent of the sum to education.

Of the total budget sum, ₦1.167 trillion was allocated to Capital Expenditure while Recurrent Expenditure takes and ₦591.281billion.
