Lagos CP says plan to adopt abandoned baby
Hakeem Odumosu, the commissioner of police for Lagos, has declared an intention to adopt a day-old baby boy abandoned at Oko Oba area of the state.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Lagos Police Command, said Odumosu plans to speak to the Child Protection Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development on the processes.
Adejobi explained that a citizen had discovered the baby on Monday, at Oladejo Street, Oko Oba, at about 10.20pm.
He said the citizen alerted the police at Abattoir Police Division and the baby was rescued.
Adejobi said the CP appealed to women, especially young ladies, to desist from abandoning their babies.
