RRS arrests fake police, other for robbery
The Lagos state police command has arrested two suspected robbers, namely Sunday Osagie and Ayodele Adeolu. The anti-crime elite unit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) made the arrest.
According to the operatives, the victim, Ekwutosi Philo, had claimed in a post that went viral that some policemen robbed her at the Alapere Kutu area of Lagos on October 20.
Philo is a skitmaker.
In a Facebook post, the police unit said its decoy team apprehended Osagie, a onetime Spy police and mechanic. His arrest led to that of his accomplice, Adeolu.
The police said that a tricycle, with registration number FST 656 JD, believed to be used by the suspects for their operations, was recovered. On Osagie, the RRS said the Lagos state public service laid him off after he went AWOL (Absence without Leave) for six months, engaging in “illegal duties and extortion of members of the public.”
The RRS said the two suspects were transferred to the Lagos police command for detailed investigation.
