Ghana descends on Nigerian prostitutes, recovers charms
Ghanaian authorities have stormed a rundown neighbourhood used by Nigerian women and other nationals as brothels.
The location is the Amenfi West Municipality of the western region of the tiny West African country.
The prostitutes, who appeared to have foreknowledge of the raid, had fled the area before the arrival of the enforcement team.
Items found in the ramshackle brothels include herbal concoctions, condoms, and amulets (charms).
Lord Nana Tandoh, the municipal chief executive, said in an interview claimed most of the prostitutes inhabiting the dark spot as Nigerians.
Most of them are Nigerians. Unfortunately, when we got the place, they had run out, so we could not arrest anyone.”
Tandoh said the area is notorious for criminal activities. She expressed concern that teenage-miners patronize the prostitutes.
“They harbor criminals who attack unsuspecting individuals and the sad part is that the operate in the middle of the town with impunity and that is causing a lot of nuisance,” she said.
