Why I resigned from PDP – Peter Obi

Presidential hopeful Peter Obi has said he decided to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because it became ‘practically impossible (for him) to continue participating and making constructive contributions” to nation-building’ through the association.

Obi stated this in his letter of resignation written to the party national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

“I am writing to intimate you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, which was coveyed by the chairman of Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha LGA, Anambra effective Friday 20 May, 2022. Consequently, I am by this letter informing you of my withdrawal for the PDP Presidential Primaries,” said Obi in the letter sighted by TheCornet.

He further said that Nigeria’s “national challenges are deep-rooted” and require “profound sacrificies”.

The former  governor of Anambra state has not officially confirmed the party he would join to pursue his ambition. TheCornet sources claim Obi might defect to the Labour Party.
