Adeleke vows to appeal judgment removing him as governor
Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun, has vowed to appeal the ruling of the Election Petitions Tribunal.
The tribunal on Friday sacked the incumbent on the ground that his election was fraught with over-voting. The tribunal also mandated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of returns issued to Adeleke and give the same to former governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Reacting to the ruling, Adeleke urged his supporters to “remain calm”.
He said, “We will appeal the judgement and we are sure justice will be done. Let everyone be reassured that we will do everything possible to retain this widely acclaimed mandate. God bless Osun!”
