Abia university don kidnapped, another in Ibadan

The police have confirmed the kidnap by unknown gunmen of Prof. Godwin Emezue, the deputy vice-chancellor (Academics) of Abia State University (ABSU).

ASP Maureen Chinaka, the public relations officer of Abia police Command, said that the kidnapping took place at about 9.30pm on Friday.

She said the DVC was kidnapped in the presence of his wife while purchasing fuel at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South LGA, Abia.

“During the incident, the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV, and drove away with the victim.

“The Abia State Police Command is deploying resources and assets including intelligence and technical aid towards unraveling the crime, and safely rescuing the victim from his captors,” Chinaka said.

Similarly, the chairman of the Chairman of Oyo State Tipper, Lorry And Quarry Park Management System, Alhaji Akeem Akintola, popularly known as Kuso, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday, around Ajiboye area, Omi Apata, Ibadan, the state capital.

The assailants abducted him from his house.
