Ibori gains edge over Okowa as court disqualifies PDP guber candidateÂ

James Ibori, the former governor of Delta state, has gained an edge over his estranged political godson and incumbent Governor Patrick Okowa.

This is as a result of a ruling by a federal high court, Abuja, which disqualified the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

Oborevwori, who is the speaker of the Delta state house of assembly, is Okowa’s anointed candidate.Â

His emergence had pitted Okowa against Ibori, who preferred the litigant David Edevbie – the former commissioner of finance.Â

In his ruling, Justice Taiwo Taiwo restrained Oborevwori from parading himself as the party’s candidate for the poll. The judge instead ordred a fresh primaries to select the party’s standard bearer.Â

The court order followed a suit instituted by David Edevbie, a former commissioner for finance, who is the anointed candidate of former governor James Ibori against Oborevwori’s candidacy.
