Fear grips residents as deadly cult clash rages in Mowe-Ofada

Residents of Mowe-Ofada, in Ogun State, are gripped with fear as rival cult groups engage in a deadly clash.

The area is a border town between Lagos and Ogun state.

Two people are said to have died from the clash. There corpses were seen at Adesan, and Onibode junction in the area.

Eyewitnesses said many shop owners nurse the fear that there might be a reprisal and have refused to open for business.

Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesperson for the Police in Ogun, said that the normalcy had returned to the area.

“It is a fight between two rival groups. One of the cultists was killed yesterday (Thursday) but the situation has been brought under control.

“We have arrested a suspect in relation to the violence,” Oyeyemi said.
