Fayemi’s uncompleted projects my priority – Oyebanji

Biodun Oyebanji, the newly inaugurated governor of Ekiti state, has said his immediate priorities include completing ongoing infrastructural projects, begun by his predecessor Kayode Fayemi.

“In keeping with the Ekiti State (Transition) Law, 2019, our plan will also build on the foundation laid by the outgoing administration by prioritising the completion of strategic infrastructure projects in the knowledge economy, transportation, agriculture and power,” Oyebaji said in his inaugural speech.

This is as he directed the freezing of the state government accounts with different banks.

The governor also announced the appointment of Yinka Oyebode as his chief press secretary. Oyebode had served former governor Fayemi in the same capacity.

At the inauguration ceremony, held at Ado Ekiti, the state capital, were the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande, Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa) and Simon Lalong (Plateau).

Oyetola was represented by his deputy, Bendict Alabi; while Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki; the Minister of Trade, Industry and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; outgoing Ekiti State Deputy Governor Bisi Egbeyemi; the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye; former Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonsakin, were also present.

Others are: ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose; former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubike Iherijika; Senators Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), Michael Bamidele, Musiliu Obanikoro, as well as the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, traditional rulers, amongst other, were also at the event.
