Two injured as armed men attack Imo police station

Two police officers were injured, after armed men launched a gun attack on a police station in Imo State.

The Cornet reports that Imo has witnessed armed attacks on different police stations in recent times.

Report has it that the armed men, on Monday morning, attacked the Otoko Divisional Police Headquarters, situated in the Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State.

A villager said a gun duel between police officers and the attacks lasted many hours.

“Police officers engaged the gunmen and the situation became more terrible. It was as if the world was coming to an end.

“It was a consistent exchange of gunshots. We haven’t seen this one before. Two policemen were terribly injured and had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital,” the unnamed villager told The Punch.

Spokesperson for the Imo Police Command, Micheal Abattam confirmed the attack.
