Shootings during Muslim Iftar leave two dead
Gunshots ricocheted in two communities in Shiroro local government of Niger State as Muslims were breaking their fast (Iftar) on Saturday.
The attack by armed men left two people dead in the invaded communities: Kadna and Naknuwape.
The invaders reportedly abducted a young girl and another person.
The spokesperson, Coalition of Shiroro Association, Salis Mohammed Sabo, confirmed the attack.
TheCornet reports that Nigeria continues to face unwavering terrorist attacks, banditry, and kidnappings, among others.
President Muhammadu Buhari has struggled, with minimal success, to contain insecurity in the country, which was one of his cardinal campaign promises.
The situation has fuelled public disenchantment against the Buhari administration, as groups including the Northern Elders Forum have called on the president to resign his office.
