Tinubu we knew male not female, Chicago university tells Atiku

The Chicago State University has authenticated President Bola Tinubu’s claim that he received a diploma from the institution in 1979.

Tinubu’s academic records have been a subject of controversy in the ongoing election petitions trial.

The university in response to Abubakar Atiku, the opposition politician challenging Tinubu’s electoral victory, said it redacted students’ names for privacy’s sake.

“CSU is also producing, Bates labelled as CSU 0011 and 0012, diplomas produced for other students (with their names redacted for privacy) which match the format of the Tinubu replacement dated June 27, 1977,” the university wrote.

The institution added it does not ordinarily keep students’ diplomas and “cannot locate a copy of the original document prepared for Mr. Tinubu in 1979.”  Contrary to opposition supporters’ claim, the university identified Tinubu as a male, and not a female as seen in the document circulating the internet.

President Tinubu had sworn to an affidavit declaring he lost his original certificates.
