Suspect jumps into river on sighting police patrol
A suspect reportedly jumped into a river on sighting a police patrol team.
This is according to the Delta state police command. The suspect is said to be travelling in a mini-bus, when he suddenly alighted from the bus at a police checkpoint, before taking to his heels.
DSP Bright Edafe, the spokesperson for the command, said the police team
chased after the suspect, but could not catch up with him. The suspect also dropped the handbag he clutched at while fleeing from the police.
The police said they found handguns in the suspect’s bag.
In a related development, operatives of the Command Eagle-Net Special Squad arrested a male passenger after finding a gun on him during a search.
