Military blocks rocket propelled grenades, AK 47 rifle heading to Southwest

The Multinational Joint Task Force has intercepted some weapons and ammunition from three suspects while travelling to the Southwest region of the country.

According to a report, the Sector 4 command of the MNJTF had stopped the Toyota vehicle ferrying the consignments.

MNJTF’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, said that the three suspects are suspected to be gunrunners for Jihadist terrorist group, Boko Haram.

The suspects had hidden the consignment in an obscure compartment in the vehicle.

Recovered from them are seven rocket propelled guns, one AK 47 rifle complete with a magazine, two Nigerian license plates and a customs pass from Maine Soroa Border.

Col. Abdullahi said he believed that the arms originated from the Boko Haram terrorists group.
