Tinubu suggests herdsmen orientation, facility for cattle rearing

President Bola Tinubu has expressed his administration’s desire to “reorient” herdsmen and “make provisions for cattle rearing.” He stated this in Minna, Niger State, where he flagged off the Food Security and Agricultural Mechanization Programme.

According to him, a situation where herders lead their cattle to graze on farms and “eat crops” is “painful.” Instead, President Tinubu suggested that the government “can re-orient the herder and make provision for cattle rearing.”

The President also stated his administration’s commitment towards “ensuring food sufficiency and protecting local industries for sustainable economic growth.”

“I do not see why Nigeria cannot feed all students in its schools

“I am equally here to partner with you to banish hunger,” the President said to his host, Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago.

Responding, Governor Bago informed that four states namely Benue, Kogi, Kwara, and Lagos have decided to partner and develop agriculture.

He said, “For us, agriculture is key to addressing the challenges in critical sectors of our economy, and we shall seize every opportunity for the attainment of growth and engender prosperity for the people of our beloved state and by extension our country, Nigeria.”

The event saw President Tinubu commission tractors and other farming equipment.
