President Bola Tinubu has called his first and only witness, the Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, to testify in the election petition filed by Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Bamidele got into his new position by a consensus among the All Progressives Congress senate caucus. However, the leadership of the ruling party rejected the selection process in both senate and the house of representatives.

Testifying in the matter on Wednesday, Bamidele stated that 10, 929 votes were deducted from Tinubu’s votes in Kano state. He also testified that the United States didn’t convict Tinubu on drug cases as no case was instituted against him in any court.

The LP and the Peoples Democratic Party are challenging Tinubu’s victory as president.

In their separate cases, LP’s Obi and PDP’s Abubakar Atiku individually claimed their won the poll and should be declared winner. They are equally praying the court to order fresh election in the situation it cannot declare either of them the winner.
