Sagamu cultist turns violent, dies on police watch

Ogun State Police command has denied the allegation that its men tortured a suspect, Oduyiga Seyi Samson, to death.

Samson, and another suspect, Gbenga Adejoke, were arrested for their involvement in a cult clash that claimed five lives in Sagamu, Ogun State.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for Ogun Police Command, said that Samson and Gbenga confessed to being members of Eiye Confraternity and Buccaneers Confraternity respectively.

Odutola added that Seyi suddenly went berserk inside his cell at the Ogun police headquarters, Eleweran.

He allegedly bit his cellmates, who the police took to a General Hospital to stave off likely infection.

The police said Seyi died while receiving medical attention at the hospital.

“As soon as the autopsy report about the deceased is out, the Police will give further details,”Odutola said.
