Ramadan: Police confirm 10 people died during alms distribution in Bauchi

The death toll following alms distribution in Bauchi State, northern Nigerian, has risen to 10.

Thus is according to the Bauchi State police command. The victims are Muslims observing Ramadan fasting.

Police Superintendent Ahmed Wakili, on Monday, said that ā€œmedical doctors at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) has confirmed that three more women died at the hospital among those brought for treatment.ā€

The casualties who died in the hospital, according to Wakil, include Aisha Usman,13; Sahura Abubakar, 55; Aisha Ibrahim Abubakar, 43; and Khadija Isah, aged 8 years.

Others are Maryam Suleiman, 20; Kandahar Bauchi; Maryam Shuaibu, 16; Hassana Saidu, 53.

ā€œThese are the number of victims confirmed dead by medical doctors.

“More details will be made available to the public as the command receives them,ā€ he said.
