Presidential tribunal berates Peter Obi’s counsel

The Presidential Election Petition Court took a swipe at Emeka Okpoko, one of the counsels in the legal team of Peter Obi.

Okpoko, a senior advocate, had attempted to use a document not properly scheduled for the proceedings. The tribunal judges halted hearing to allow the counsel sort out the documents as he clumsily fiddled with the papers.

While he struggled with doing so, the tribunal ordered him to re-file the documents, in line with the pre-hearing reports.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, the leader of the panel, said: “What we have done today is a waste of time. I think you underrated the kind of job you have to do,” one of the justices said. The tribunal then advised the counsel to seek an adjournment to enable him tidy his papers, but the team declined.
