Police deny armed robbers killed Ogun student

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, has denied the allegation that some armed robbers had killed a student.

A report has that the armed robbers attacked Ipara-Remo and Ode-Remo communities, both in Ogun State. The communities comprise a student population, as it is where the Gateway Polytechnic is cited.

On getting to the communities, the daredevil robbers announced their visit with a hail of gunshots. One student, Francis Dwumfour, was allegedly hit and rushed to the hospital.

The report adds that the robberies are usual occurrences in the two communities.

In her response to a media enquiry, Odutola said that the gunshot victim was treated and already discharged from the hospital.

“The student who was injured has recovered and been since discharged from hospital,” she said.

Odutola explained that the commissioner of police met with the students, during which he urged them to always take the appropriate channels to air their grievances.

“The CP urged them to always report incidents formally to the Divisional Police Officer and not to take law into their own hands. No student died in the attack,” Odutola stated.
