APC chieftain Akpanudoedehe ignores party, insists on litigation

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, John Akpanudoedehe has stated that he would continue to pursue his court case against the incumbent executives of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the party.

TheCornet reports that APC national chairman, Abdullai Adamu, recently inaugurated Stephen Leo Ntukekpo as the party chairman in Akwa Ibom, based on a recent court judgment.

Akpanudoedehe, however, appealed the judgment. He has also urged Adamu to allow the court to decide the matter while he accused the party’s national legal adviser of planning to scuttle his litigation.

In his letter to Adamu, Akpanudoedehe said his legal team told him “that the National Legal Adviser of the party is presently advising them to withdraw from representing me in the appeal.”

“Ordinarily I would not have responded as I am doing now, since the reasons given to sustain your advice for their withdrawal are already sub-judice before the Court of Appeal.

“You may wish to refer to the processes filed by the 1st, 2nd as well as the 3rd Respondents in the appeal which I attach hereto for your ease of reference as annexures A1 and A2.”

He noted that the chairman remained the 4th Respondent in the appeal presupposing that “between both of us your reason for advising my lawyers to withdraw from further representation is sub-judice.

“I will therefore advise that you allow the court to decide whether I can competently maintain my appeal or not rather than usurp the functions of the court at this time.”

Akpanudoedehe was the secretary of the now-defunct Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress.
