Pastor Odukoya’s church cancels service as Christians grieve over his death

The Fountain of Life Church abruptly cancelled its mid-week service following the death of its founding pastor, Taiwo Odukoya, aged 67 years.

Odukoya’s passing on Tuesday threw his members and many Christians into mourning. He had died in the United States.

Announcing the preacher’s death, his church said, ” We are in total submission to you Lord. We thank the Lord for a gift of a great teacher.” On the church’s official Facebook page, a mourner Ebenezer Diyaolu wrote: *Hearts so heavy. Mouths so Speechless. I Don’t even know what to write. Sleep well God’s general Pastor Taiwo Odukoya. You inspired many lives in many ways. We love you, sir.” Another mourner, Olubunmi Kudaya said, “You fought a good fight. Your memories and good works lives on.”

On her part, Nkechi Akwaja stated: “My Pastor, my father in the Lord. We love you so much, and we will miss you dearly. Rest on dad, God loves you best.”

The outpouring of grief continues to stream across the church touch points and among Nigerians shocked by Odukoya’s death.

Born June 15, 1956 in Kaduna, Odukoya was educated at the University of Ibadan, majoring in petroleum engineering. Married to his former schoolmate, Bimbo, in 1984, and both had three children between them.

The popular televangelist, Bimbo, would later die in a plane crash on December 10, 2005 along with 102 other passengers of the ill-fated Sosoliso Airliner.
