Oyetola, Aregbesola flex muscles as Osun APC tears apart

The crisis-ridden All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Osun State has evidently torn into parts, as Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his predecessor Rauf Aregbesola held separate congresses on Saturday.

Both congresses saw mammoth crowds of loyalists of the two leaders.

Oyetola and Aregbesola have continued to nurse a disagreement, with the former cancelling some of the policies Aregbesola initiated during his time as governor.  Governor Oyetola would later justify his actions, but denied they both had a rift.

During the congress he oversaw, Governor Oyetola urged the emergent party chairman, Famodun Adegboyega, to reconcile warring party members.

“As you begin this task of leading our party, I enjoin you to embark on a reconciliatory process that will guarantee the unity and strength that the APC is known for.

“You must ensure you carry everyone along in the running of the affairs of the party while I also appeal to those who lost out in the Congress to join hands with the new executive to move our party forward and work towards the success of the APC in coming elections,” the governor said.

Other states with parallel congresses during the APC nationwide state congress included Lagos, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Niger, Delta, Kano etc.
