Southeast to get $10m funding, if I am elected – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has promised a $10 billion business lifeline for business operators in the south-east, if he is elected president.

He said this during his campaign stop in Abia state on Saturday.

The former Nigerian vice president reminded his audience he had made a similar promise to them while contesting the presidency in 2019.

He said, “My vice president (sic) has announced that we are going to set aside $10 billion to make sure that we support businesses, particularly in this part of the country. ”

“I remember in 2019 when I came here, I addressed a group of businessmen from the south-east generally because Aba is the capital of the southeast as far as business is concerned.

“I remembered I addressed all Igbo businessmen and promised them that I am going to support them and set out a lot of money for the rehabilitation of businesses in Aba. So, it is still there.”

Atiku added that he would make sure the Abia dry port project becomes operational.

“It will only be my pleasure to make sure that the dry port functions and is operating,” he said.

Promising to end the suffering of people of the region, Atiku’s running mate Ifeanyi Okowa said he would “restore the dignity of Igbo man”.

He blamed the APC for making the region suffer. He lamented Nigeria is no longer what it was.

“We want a president that can unite Nigeria,” he said.
