Orji Kalu gets roasted for urging APC to field Lawan against Atiku

Abia senator, Orji Kalu, was roasted by his Facebook followers after he made a post urging the APC to field Senator Ahmad Lawan against former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

Kalu says in his post that Atiku’s emergence has compelled the APC to pick a northern presidential aspirant as its flag bearer. “It is no longer feasible to talk about Southern candidates,” the senator. He further stated that“President Muhammad Buhari has a right to choose his successor and I call on him to pick Senator Ahmad Lawan.”.

However, Kalu’s post instantly attracted opprobrium from many among his Facebook followers as he was accused of being “selfish”.One of the critics, Ahiaba Aaron said: “So you can be Senate President and later succeed Lawan after his tenure? Selfish interest is killing us in this country.”

Towin Aaron’s line of reasoning, another critic, Samie Bob, accused Kalu of “putting (his) personal interest above your people interest”. He concluded by saying the Senator Kalu secretly nurses an ambition to become the senate president if Lawan wins.To Akwarandu Kc, Lawan stands no chance as he told Kalu that “Atiku will bury (sic) Lawan politically before 12pm on election day”.

Another commenter, Chukwuma Emeh, said senate president Lawan is not viable electorally. He said: “Weak, fragile and rubber stamp Sen. Lawan can’t near Atiku in any equation.”

At the same time, some other respondents believe that APC presidential hopeful Bola Tinubu is Atiku’s match for the presidential contest in 2023.Ebuka Enyeazu Dioh said: “The reality that APC must present a candidate that is capable of defeating Atiku has dawned on all of us and we therefore have to throw our support behind Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu)”.

Similarly, Ibn Yaqub said he is optimistic APC’s Tinubu would spring a surprise that “will be bury (the PDP) forever.” On his part,Igwe Austin Kenor-Olom reprimanded Senator Kalu to stop “misguiding the public”.“If you cannot win the election, Tinubu can, and he will. Know this and have permanent peace,” he said.

For Kasim Sule, “Only Jagaban (Tinubu) has the political strength to defeat Atiku hands down. For APC to retain power beyond 2023, Tinubu must be given the flag.”

However, Humphrey De-Anaxy Zodos, differs from the other respondents. In his view, “the Nigerian youth (sic) and HE (sic) Peter Obi of the Labour Party shall shock everyone.”

Atiku had emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at the primaries held at the MKO International Stadium, Abuja, on Saturday.
