Lagos gets 62 new fire vehicles, woman wins SUV at COWLSO event

Lagos state fire department has procured additional 62 trucks and support vehicles. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of the state, announced the acquisition on Twitter.

He said the objective is “to empower the Lagos State Fire Department” with “the 62 brand new fire apparatuses, consisting of fire trucks and support vehicles.”

In another vein, a civil servant in the employ of the Lagos state government, has won a brand new car at the just concluded National Women’s Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO).

The winner, Mrs. Adebisi Ikusawe, works with the Lagos Island Local Government. She won a brand new GAC Sport Utility Vehicle at the event, just six months after she lost her former vehicle to a ghastly accident.

COWLSO said that it is its tradition to gift “three lucky participants” star prizes and several other rewards, such as deep freezers, flat screen televisions, water dispensers, washing machines, microwave ovens, blenders, toasters, among others.

Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the first lady of Lagos state and the chairman of COWLSO, spoke on Ikusawe winning a car.

“If you hear this woman (Ikusawe’s) story, in April 2022, she was involved in a serious accident. The car was a right off. As faith would have it, at the Gala Night at this conference, she got a brand new car,” the First Lady said.

“Also, a 74-year-old woman, Alhaja Olushola Oyedele popularly known as Iya Luku Mushin won a 2-bedroom apartment at LagosHoms, Sangotedo.

“An elated Oyedele who has been a politician since 1974 could not hide her excitement when her ticket number for the raffle draw was announced by the State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Responding, Oyedele said she was excited to win the star prize having tried for several years.

“I’ve been involved in politics since 1974. I have also been attending this COWLSO Conference for years hoping and praying that I will win one day without begrudging previous winners. I thank God my time has come today,” Oyedele said.

Equally, a retired permanent secretary in the Lagos State Civil Service, Mrs. Abiola Liadi won a Turkish Return Ticket during the raffle draws.
