Fuel subsidy: NLC to begin strike August 2

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) says that it is embarking on a nationwide strike, beginning August 2, 2023 when the seven days ultimatum the union issued to the government would lapse.

The Labour union had last month indicated its readiness to begin a national strike but a restraining order from the National Industrial Court halted the move.

Although the NLC has not announced the planned strike action, TheCornet gathered from sources that the union leaders took the decision at its special meeting.

NLC’s grouse is the abrupt removal of petrol subsidy and its resultant effects on the citizens.
