Nigerian singer D’Banj ‘arrested’ for fraud

ÂThe Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reportedly arrested Nigerian pop star, Oladapo Oyebanji, popularly known as D’banj, for fraud.

 

PREMIUM TIMES claims it exclusively gathered that ICPC operatives closed in on D’Banj after he repeatedly spurned invitations to questioning.

 

The singer is allegedly being detained in Abuja.ÂTheCornet learned that D’Banj and some government officials conspired to defraud the government of hundreds of millions of naira earmarked for tyhe N-Power project, an empowerment programme set up by the Nigerian government in 2016 to address youth unemployment and increase social development.

 

The singer allegedly packed the N-Power beneficiaries payroll with fictitious names.

The report claims the ICPC declined to admit the singer to administrative bail, due to his evasion until his arrest.
